Other People’s Notebooks and Pencil Cases

While sifting through the internet for Pentel Black Polymer reviews in Japanese a while ago, I stumbled upon this delightful blog by a teenaged stationery enthusiast. There are reviews galore but I must single out two particularly entertaining categories: snapshots of friends’ pen- and pencil-cases, and study notes kept by fellow students. The latter series is inspired by a sensational book(a bestseller in 2008-9) that gives tips on organized note-taking characteristic of successful Tokyo University candidates. (The author of the book even helped Kokuyo come up with a line of notebooks for this purpose.)

Together the articles allow the reader a rare glimpse into the everyday lives of high school students in Japan. With young consumers like these, Japan’s stationery future looks bright indeed :)
